Art and Music
Music class is an opportunity for students to express themselves. Based on the Alberta Curriculum, our music classes are designed for students not only to learn about musical instruments, but to learn about how music makes them feel, how to use music in the form of communication (i.e. singing a song for Mother’s Day instead of buying a gift). Students also learn what it means to work as a team in order to sing a song in different tones.
Following the Alberta Curriculum, art education at Mapletree Academy focuses on organizing and interpreting visual material and emphasizing visual experience. We teach our students to perceive art as being accessible to everyone and that it can transform individuals, relationships, and environments. Understanding art enables individuals to relate their work to others' and see different perspectives. Mapletree Academy's art education involves expressing emotions through visual forms and connects with the performing and literary arts.
